-48 no 2 bedroom single storey sheltered houses, each of 73 sqm.
-60 bed Nursing Home, of total area 3,615 sqm, with associated amenities, facilities and services catering for a wide variety of people; generally for patients and residents but some facilities will be open to members of the public.
-Day Care Centre, of area 315 sqm, incorporating public day rooms, dining room and classrooms for residents, patients and the public. It is intended that this Centre would function as a local community facility
The character of the site, a sloping field, has been retained and enhanced in the design. The new buildings have been placed, with no internal boundary divisions within an open, sloped and planted landscape and follow the contours of the site.
The houses are single storey and are arranged in short terraces of 3-4 houses. Several terraces are grouped to form a cluster, there are 3, each surrounded by landscaped parkland. The houses have an independent access to the communal public parkland. The 4th cluster is formed by the Nursing Home and Day Care Centre. This multi-functional building, the largest on site, maintains a 2 storey profile as it steps down the slope, conforming to the low profile of the village itself. Its roof has been used as gardens, terraces and car parking so as to minimise its presence when viewed from above.
